Salto Lisburn

Code Of Conduct Salto Squad Parents

General

PARENTS SHOULD:

  1. Ensure gymnasts are punctual for their training sessions – the start of the training session is crucial as we set the tone and outline goals for the remainder of the session.
  2. Contact the office or email the coach at your earliest convenience to let us know if gymnasts are going to be late.
  3. Let us know in advance of their session if they are unable to attend – this should be via email to the coach and Head coach.
  4. NOT interact with gymnasts during their sessions be it verbally or through gestures. This has proven to be disruptive and distracts their training.
  5. NOT enter the gym unless invited to do so by their coach or a member of management. This includes opening the main gym door.
  6. Avoid the disparagement of the knowledge, ability or performance of gymnasts or coaches. There are accepted methods of expressing disapproval, which should be followed.
  7. If unhappy with any aspect of the running of the club or have any complaints, please express this in one of the following ways:
    1. By speaking directly / in writing to the Head coach (David).
    2. By speaking directly/in writing to the CEO / Welfare officer (Mandy).
  8. Show appreciation and respect for the coaches, officials, volunteers and other parents.
  9. NOT air your concerns in an open forum. Airing your grievances with other parents or on social media serves little constructive purpose. It places others in uncomfortable positions, sets a poor example for your child and affects the team atmosphere of the gym.

Competition

  1. Be professional – you are also a representative of your child’s club, so when you go to an event/competition remember you are a guest.
  2. Do not approach an official with questions concerning the competition. This is the coaches responsibility and if you have a concern discuss it with your child’s coach and they will deal with it as they see fit.
  3. Do not approach a coach with questions regarding the skills gymnasts are performing during the competition. If you have concerns this can be discussed after the competition
  4. Set a good example by recognising good sportsmanship and applauding the good performance of ALL, including your child’s own team mates

Communication

  1. When outside of the facility, please communicate with your daughters coach and / or the Head coach via email only. This respects their working hours and downtime outside coaching hours.
  2. Emails sent to the Head coach will normally be responded to within 48 hours. If there is a squad weekend, training camp, competition etc this may be longer.
  3. You should not speak to a coach during a session, unless it is an urgent matter that immediately needs the coach’s attention. If needing to speak to a coach to pass on information, please do this 5-10 minutes before the start of the session.
  4. Respect coaches finishing times – at the end of a session coaches are there to ensure your daughter is safely picked up and they will normally finish or return to another session at this time. It is not appropriate to ask multiple questions or seek lengthy feedback. If there is a problem or feedback is required, please address it with the Head coach via email.

If you are unable to follow these simple and important rules, then it is time to consider if your child is in the right club.
